Leave the Area Immediately:
If you smell gas or suspect a leak indoors or outdoors, evacuate the area immediately. Do not try to locate the source of the leak yourself.

Avoid Flames or Sparks:
Do not operate electrical switches, appliances, or any devices that could create sparks, including light switches or phones, as these can ignite gas.

Open Windows and Doors:
If it's safe to do so from a distance, open windows and doors to ventilate the area and allow the gas to dissipate.

Shut Off Gas Supply:
If possible, shut off the main gas supply valve. The gas meter is typically located outdoors near the utility meter. Use a wrench to turn the valve perpendicular to the pipe to shut off the gas.

Do Not Return Inside:
Do not re-enter the building or area until emergency responders or qualified technicians have confirmed it is safe to do so.

Call Emergency Services:
From a safe location away from the suspected leak, call your local gas utility provider's emergency number or 911 to report the leak immediately.

Do Not Use Vehicles or Phones:
Avoid using vehicles or mobile phones near the area of the suspected leak, as they could also generate sparks.

Wait for Assistance:
Wait outside in a safe location until emergency responders or utility professionals arrive and give the all-clear to return.
